We are seeking an Engineer to join our Roads and Stormwater Unit at Tweed Shire Council. This role involves applying engineering judgement to traffic management policies and infrastructure, responding to customer enquiries, conducting investigations, assisting in procurement and grant administration, and assessing development applications. You will work closely with senior engineers, contribute to policy and asset management, and provide technical advice to the Planning and Regulation Division. The position offers opportunities for rotation within the division to broaden experience in local government engineering
About the role:
- Apply engineering judgement to traffic management policies and infrastructure within the local road network.
- Respond to customer enquiries, conduct investigations, and assist with procurement and grant administration.
- Assess development applications and determine conditions of consent in line with relevant standards.
- Support senior engineers in policy development, asset management, and special projects as directed.
- Provide technical advice to the Planning and Regulation Division on infrastructure-related matters.
- Participate in career development opportunities, including rotational placements within the division.

We are seeking:
- A Bachelor of Civil Engineering or a related field, eligible for membership with Engineers Australia (candidates nearing completion may apply).
- A current Class C driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of engineering aspects of land development and relevant development control requirements.
- Experience in applying and/or drafting engineering policies, standards, or specifications.
- Understanding of traffic engineering principles and their practical application.
- Strong skills in cost estimation, procurement, contract management, and/or project management.

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
