About the role

The successful candidate will become a part of a team that looks after a varied and interesting client base including:

• Australian businesses
• Multinational corporations doing business in Australia.

The team works collaboratively together to assist client needs, improve their skills and drive excellent commercial outcomes for clients. We support one another to solve problems and help clients each and every day.

Initially working in the graduate role which will progress to qualified accountant, your duties will include but are not limited to:

• Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements & Instalment Activity Statements with Australian Tax Office and complying with the relevant laws;
• Preparing and lodging Individual and Company Tax Returns with Australian Tax Office;
• Liaising with client to collect payroll information, preparing monthly Payroll, and sending Payslips;
• Collecting inputs and assist in preparing Financial Statements for companies, trusts etc;
• Using accounting software to record journal entries and conducting bookkeeping activities;
• Dealing with various state and federal authorities on payroll and other statutory compliances;
• To prepare workpapers and checklists for audit and other assurance activities;
• Helping client in their secretarial compliance due dates and lodgements; and
• Advising clients on other taxation, payroll, financial reporting and secretarial matters

We would expect and work with the successful candidate to ensure that they will continue grow and learn and move into more senior and challenging roles with the team and the firm & Morris Cohen Glen & Co.

Skills and experience

We are seeking a bright, enthusiastic and committed Accounting student, who possesses:

- Minimum 12 months Accounting role experience
- Studied Accounting major at university
- Intention to start CA in the future
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- The ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Strong dedication to teamwork, a willingness to work hard, learn and develop new skills using the latest technology
