Job description
We are seeking a behaviour support practitioner experienced in neurodiversity affirming behaviour support. The successful candidate will be required to produce detailed behaviour support plans using a holistic, integrative approach, and provide psychological assessments to children. Ongoing support will also be required for most families. The successful candidate will have a passion for ongoing professional growth and providing a high quality service to our clients and families. They will also be committed to staying with the business on a long term basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess client needs and how to support those needs being met as part of the development of neurodiversity-affirming behaviour support plans
- Ability to work co-operatively and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with individuals, families, schools and other stakeholders
- Offering support to individuals, children or their families to implement strategies which will improve their capacity to cope, social and emotional wellbeing, and quality of life
- Manage a case load and ensure that documentation is kept up to date
- Evaluate support provided to clients on an ongoing basis to ensure activities and care provided are consistent with changing client needs
- Maintain confidentiality of information
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated skill and experience working as a Proficient / Advanced / Specialist Behaviour Support Clinician as outlined in the National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission
- Proficient written and verbal communication, consultation and negotiation skills
- Tertiary qualifications and NDIS behaviour support practitioner registration
- Experience in delivering and evaluating relevant training for individuals, families and support staff
- Have explicit knowledge of supporting people using a neurodiversity affirming psychology framework
- Well-developed communication, time management and organisational skills
- Current Australian Driver’s License
- Current Working with Children’s Check, Police Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check
