Security Defence Engineer (Fixed Term Contract)

The Role
The Cyber Defence Engineer will enhance prevention, detection, triage, and remediation of security events through automation. You will work within the Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) to support the journey of Shifting Left, focusing on continuous threat exposure monitoring and autonomous response via SOAR automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Threat Exposure Monitoring: Implement tools and processes to detect and remediate security weaknesses from misconfigurations or gaps in coverage.
• SOAR Automation: Develop automated response systems for efficient triaging and incident handling, reducing manual effort and improving response time.
• SIEM Use Case Development: Create and fine-tune SIEM detection use cases using frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK to enhance threat detection and response.

Key Requirements

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity.
• 3+ years in a Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC).
• Strong experience with SIEM, log management, and use case development.
• Expertise in SOAR automation.
• Familiarity with Microsoft security stack, particularly Azure Sentinel / Defender.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, D3FEND, NIST CSF, and Cyber Kill Chain.
