Efficiently and effectively refine scope, complete tender documents and project manage the design and documentation for Council’s capital works projects.

- Position Remuneration: Level 5.1 ($90,851 base annual salary) / ($103,123 total remuneration package which is based on a permanent full-time employee and inclusive of 12% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading).

About You
You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven ability in advocacy, collaboration, building effective relationships, negotiation, conflict resolution in managing design and planning projects and consultant teams.
You will have experience in the management of the planning and design of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects including managing multi-disciplinary consultancy procurement and budgets.
Furthermore, but not limited to, you will have ability to problem solve complex technical issues and develop effective and practical solutions.
The position's focus will be:
- Prepare and assess detailed briefs for projects or aspects of projects including but not limited to planning, landscape, survey, geotechnical, structural, budget and design requirements.
- Coordinate and manage external delivery of designs, estimates and specifications for infrastructure and planning projects to ensure they are delivered in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Prepare and undertake project briefs, design management, design programming, procurement, negotiation, contract management, financial administration, record keeping, and other tasks as required for the coordination of Council infrastructure projects.
- Review and check designs for technical accuracy, compliance with standards and Council’s corporate objectives in terms of urban design look and feel.
- Thoroughly investigate, consult, consider alternatives and recommend solutions for projects and customer enquiries in a local government context.
- Liaise with relevant staff, Councillors, external agencies, consultants, stakeholders and the public in the preparation, planning and design of projects.
- Exercise significant initiative and judgement in the selection and application of appropriate planning strategy, design principles and techniques for projects.
- Identify potential risks associated with capital projects and develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
- In a team environment, provide sound advice and assistance to other officers in relation to technical and professional skills.
- Undertake project control functions including scheduling, budget control, forecasting, data analysis and reporting.
- Such other duties that may arise from time to time that fall within the scope of the position.
