The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Procurement & Estimating Manager to lead the procurement and estimating functions at BuildxWise. This role will be crucial in developing our cost structures, securing competitive supplier agreements, and ensuring accurate pricing for our core range of homes.

While this is a senior role, the initial phase will require a hands-on approach, where the successful candidate will be expected to manage procurement, implement systems, refine estimating processes, and establish key supplier relationships before building out the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine the procurement strategy, ensuring cost-effectiveness and supply chain efficiency.
• Lead the estimating function to establish accurate cost models for BuildxWise’s home designs, focusing on standardising pricing for key house sizes (23, 24 & 25sq).
• Source, negotiate, and manage supplier and subcontractor agreements to secure competitive pricing and long-term partnerships.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and construction teams to optimise material selections for cost, quality, and compliance.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining build quality and adherence to Australian standards.
• Develop BOQs, take-offs, and pricing schedules to ensure seamless project execution.
• Establish procurement processes and systems that will support the business as it scales.
• Monitor market trends, material price fluctuations, and supply chain risks to inform procurement decisions.

About You

• 10+ years of experience in procurement and estimating within the residential construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of volume home construction, including material sourcing, pricing strategies, and supplier negotiations.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Buildxact, Databuild, Procore or equivalent).
• Extensive network and experience working with Australian suppliers, subcontractors, and manufacturers.
• Hands-on approach – comfortable being in the details initially and later transitioning into a leadership role.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a focus on cost control and value engineering.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with internal teams and external partners.
