Reporting to: Operations Lead
Work location: On-site at our South Brisbane office
SCHADS Level: Level 5 beginning at $97,377 pro rata plus salary sacrificing up to $15,900
Status: Initial 12-month contract with extension
Hours: 30 - 35 hours per week (0.8- 0.9FTE) as negotiated

Our head office is located on unceded Jagera and Turrbal Land in South Brisbane, with many of our services spanning across the entire state.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance and Administration Officer plays a critical role in supporting both the financial health and smooth day-to-day operations of WHEQ. This role blends finance coordination (payroll, reconciliations, assisting with audits and reports) with office administration (facility management, office supplies, employee onboarding and other day-to-day supports).
The Finance and Administration Officer works closely with the Operations Lead and accountant to ensure WHEQ’s financial processes are compliant, efficient, and support strong governance and decision-making. The role involves communicating effectively with our staff to provide operational support and problem-solving to ensure the organisation is well-resourced and equipped to fulfill our strategic objectives.
ABOUT YOU
You are an organised and detail-focused finance and administration professional who thrives in a collaborative team. You have a strong understanding of finance and payroll processes, are good with people, enjoy supporting office operations, and are committed to working in a values-driven, feminist organisation.
You will bring:
- Financial skillset: Demonstrated financial experience, ideally within a nonprofit context, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and adapt quickly to change;
- Digital capability: In-depth knowledge of the Office365 suite, Employment Hero and MYOB accounting software and/or the ability to rapidly learn and implement relevant software;
- Analytical approach: Highly organised, investigative and detail-oriented with a love for numbers
- Systems improvement & problem-solving mindset: You enjoy creating, implementing and maintaining financial procedures and business systems to support organisations to thrive;
- Warm and effective communication skills:You enjoy working flexibly within a team and communicating effectively with people at all levels to ensure smooth, efficient and on-time operation of the organisation, including the sensitive handling of confidential information; and
- Values-aligned practice: A strengths-based, proactive and supportive team player with aligned values and a commitment to social justice.
