Your New Role

The Maintenance Assistant supports the Maintenance & Operations Manager in ensuring the College and Boarding Facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors. This role assists in implementing a proactive preventative maintenance program, addressing operational and safety concerns efficiently, and contributing to the overall upkeep and improvement of the College’s facilities.

Selection Criteria

• Proven experience in general maintenance and repair work; experience within an educational or large-campus setting is highly desirable
• Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage maintenance tasks efficiently to ensure timely job completion
• Experience in grounds and garden maintenance is advantageous
• Sound knowledge of building codes, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with risk management strategies and effective resource management
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across a range of stakeholder groups
• Highly organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to maintenance challenges
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Capable of exercising initiative, sound judgement, and discretion, particularly under pressure
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and operational needs
• Experience in supervising or leading a team is desirable
• A trade qualification (e.g., carpenter, electrician, or similar) is highly regarded
• Current Driver’s License
• NSW Working with Children Check
• Successful candidate to undergo a National Criminal History Check and Functional Assessment
