Family Services Australia are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Clinician such as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (AHPRA Registered), or Mental Health Social Worker (AASW registered).

The Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for providing high-quality health and wellbeing services to individuals as part of a new FSA delivered initiative to the regions of Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Ipswich. Duties for this role will include psychological therapies and counselling; brief interventions; intake assessment; group therapies; and community engagement. Service delivery may include both in-person and telehealth supports, with consumers across the lifespan accessing Psychological Therapies as funded by the Darling Downs West Moreton PHN.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to determine the mental health needs of adult consumers.
  • Collaborate with consumers to develop personalised treatment plans based on evidence-based interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to address a range of mental health concerns.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute mental health episodes.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews, evaluate treatment outcomes, and adjust intervention plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for clients.
  • Engage in case management activities, including referrals, advocacy, and coordination of services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in accordance with organisational policies and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
  • Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body (e.g., AHPRA, AASW).
  • Proven experience in providing evidence-based intervention and case management in a mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in utilising telehealth platforms for remote service delivery (desirable).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with the latest research and best practices in mental health.
  • Current Blue Card and National Criminal Check.
  • Current Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle to assist community-based work as needed.
