The Department of Parliamentary Services in recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Assistant Director within the Parliamentary Broadcasting Services section of the Digital Recording Services Branch.

The Digital Recording Services Branch is responsible for broadcasting and archiving the audiovisual record of chamber and committee proceedings and for producing the official written record of parliamentary debates and committee hearings, known as the Hansard.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to lead a fast-moving and complex Broadcasting area, working collaboratively to provide leadership support to the section.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have strong communication and inter-personal skills,
  • Have a demonstrated ability to manage and lead a multi-disciplinary team
  • Be resilient, able to cope with periods of operational pressure and willing to respond to change.
  • Be a role model for the attributes and behaviours required of the parliamentary environment, and
  • Be an advocate for sustained cultural change across the section.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated capacity to establish strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, the ability to effectively manage a diverse group of operators and technicians, and have the ability to oversee and deliver modern, accessible and seamless services to the Australian Parliament. You will also be required to resource a program of broadcasting modernisation projects, ensuring they continue to achieve results that align with the changing needs of the Australian Parliament.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • Broadcasting staff are required to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice.
  • Broadcasting staff will be required to work extended and/or irregular hours on an "as required" basis. Duties may also require interstate travel as directed.
  • Broadcasting staff may be deployed to duties of an equivalent level in this or another area of the department to meet changing work priorities
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
