Black Diamond Group’s Workforce Solutions Australia Division has a full-time position as a Supervisor, Special Projects in Stapylton, QLD (Brisbane).

Primary Role:

Reporting to the National Manager, Operations, this role is responsible for oversight and general management of the special project’s division within operations across the Country. This includes the management of all fleet, HSEQ requirements, preventative maintenance, warranty service, and renovation for all buildings in the Black Diamond Camps and Defense fleet. Providing support to the bid team with quoting on services and installation.

This role will coordinate with the Australia team to manage the installation, transportation and maintenance of all hire or sale contracts in the department (assisting in other areas where required). Most importantly this role has key accountability for the timeliness, quality and overall safety and budget specifications of each contract until successful completion.

The Ideal Candidate for this role:

The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented professional with experience in project estimation, contract administration, and project management. They will be responsible for inspecting camps and large sites, as well as compiling quotes, and coordinating with installers. Strong skills in reviewing terms and conditions, budget control, and purchase order management are essential. This role requires travel.

This individual should be adaptable, capable of taking ownership of projects, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes while working in both office and field environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading a culture of continuous improvement towards project control aspects of project supervision including planning, scheduling, cost and budget, oversight of contract administration, subcontract management, and reporting.
  • Ensuring health and safety is of the highest concern and that there is compliance to the HSEQ management system and legislative/regulation requirements
  • Providing functional leadership in all aspects of construction and project supervision including identifying work requirements, people management, overview and implementation of methodologies, systems and processes
  • Managing and coaching any direct reports including sub-contractors
  • Key accountability of all major refurbishment of all outgoing and returned stock units within the division
  • Responsibility of implementing the scope of work for all maintenance and/or retro fitting, utilizing yard superintendent and Operations manager where appropriate
  • Supervise and coordinate warranty, service and maintenance of Black Diamond owned and sub-contracted equipment.
  • Direct all aspects of the project including ancillary services such as transport, installation, and operations
  • Requesting PO’s for work and expediting the completion of the work
  • Maintain PO log and issue PO’s on repair, service and renovation
  • Maintain detailed inventory sheet outlining all stock and off-lease units
  • Maintaining clean, safe and well organised work areas (including oversight of storage yards)
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports and statistics related to areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for OH&S on sites (and in yards as required)
  • Provide feedback for the strategy and budget for annual business plans
  • Interact with client’s and represent company in a professional manner
  • Carry out pre-sale and post-sale site inspections – client contact/liaison; establish site requirements and evaluate site conditions, access, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of site construction bid estimates with an attached ‘Scope of works’ description
  • Review site file – confirm site requirements, confirm costings, check for any discrepancies, variations etc.
  • Liaise with production for building scheduling/explant dates and construction details
  • Program and schedule site projects
  • Arrange/co-ordinate all site trades, materials equipment hire and timely delivery of same – request company purchase orders for all site trades, materials, equipment hire and delivery/transport contractors
  • Visit / inspect / monitor progress of site construction – liaise with client, negotiate variations where necessary
  • Provide a tidy and safe working site environment and follow all Occupational Health, Safety and environment Policy and Procedures and erect necessary signs, fencing, etc.
  • Provide handovers to clients and maintain records
  • Carry out warranty inspections – arrange/co-ordinate repairs (provide report)
  • Perform other duties as requested by your Manager

Example of Duties:

  • Arrange and oversee Installation
  • Arrange and oversee Commissioning requirements of nominated buildings
  • Arrange and oversee Demobilisation
  • Set up and oversee routine and reactive maintenance
  • Maintain the works schedule
  • Monitor and procure critical spares
  • Monitor and report on HSE requirements
  • Monitor daily reporting

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in engineering (civil), business administration, Project Management or other related discipline is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management/senior supervisory role
  • 10+ years in the building/construction industry with knowledge of the Building Code of Australia
  • Experience in the Modular Building Industry would be an asset
  • Ability to direct/execute several projects simultaneously with a proven track record of success
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff and contractors while fostering a continuous improvement environment
  • Knowledge of HSEQ compliance and regulations in the building and construction industry
  • Project management and contract management skills would be an asset
  • Effective negotiation, planning, organising and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to analyse and interpret head and subcontract agreements, provide innovative recommendations and provide relevant information to prepare contractual claims and variations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and provide recommendations on budgets and forecasts; and
  • Evidence of ability to manage direct resources and subcontractors including an emphasis on coaching and developing newly formed teams
  • Must be fluent in English both oral and written
  • Must be able to live and work in Australia

  • Must be able to work in an office environment (cubicle, open office) and in the yard and on sites
  • Must be able to work on a computer for a part of the day as required
  • Must be able to National travel and stay away from home as required
  • Must be neat and presentable and comply with HSE standards
