Make an impact at Serco
As a Senior Psychologist/Social Worker at Acacia Prison, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and quality of rehabilitation programs. Working within the Programs Department, you’ll lead and guide a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, and program facilitators to deliver evidence-based interventions that support inmate rehabilitation and reduce reoffending. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Wooroloo, WA.
As a Senior Psychologist or Senior Social Worker, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Providing clinical supervision and guidance to team members delivering interventions.
  • Supporting and evaluating the delivery of offender programs to ensure quality and adherence to evidence-based practices.
  • Assisting in the research, development, and delivery of innovative group programs and workshops
  • Promoting cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity among prisoners and colleagues.
  • Actively participating in the development and implementation of strategies to improve program outcomes and prisoner engagement.

You are a motivated and compassionate professional with extensive experience in psychological services. You excel in leadership roles and have a passion for developing others while delivering high-quality interventions. You thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments and are committed to promoting rehabilitation and reintegration.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Psychologist: Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA (a master’s degree is highly desirable).
  • Social Worker: Degree in Social Work; AND membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (a master’s degree is highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team, ideally in a correctional or institutional setting.
  • Experience in group facilitation, particularly addressing complex mental health or behavioural concerns.
  • Advanced report-writing skills and the ability to deliver constructive feedback to team members.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for offender rehabilitation and the management of clinical disorders prevalent in correctional populations.
