About the Role

Join us in transforming lives. As the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in Residential Age Care at St Vincent Hospital Melbourne (SVHM), you will play a pivotal role assisting the Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the safe and effective delivery of a person-centred model of care, to promote the dignity and quality of life of older people with a complexity of needs. You will support the service's compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne's policies and procedures, and focus on excellence in clinical practice.

This role is classified at ZB7. This is inclusive of an above award payment ($136,344.00 - $146,224.00 per annum).

Your Contribution

  • In conjunction with the DON, your previous knowledge and experience in senior nursing roles in residential age care will support the provision of clinical leadership to the SVHM RAC Unit Managers and their teams.
  • You will encourage a culture of excellence in nursing by supporting the Unit Managers to monitor and ensure the nursing workforce meets the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's Standards of Practice for the Registered Nurse and the Enrolled Nurse.
  • You will promote a culture that supports resident choice and preference as key drivers of care; where staff, residents and their families feel welcome, valued and safe to provide feedback.
  • Your knowledge and experience in senior nursing roles in residential age care will support the SVHM RAC team to successfully achieve positive outcomes from Aged Care Accreditation Assessments, Support Contacts and Aged Care Complaints Commissioner processes.
  • You will hold current AHPRA registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, without notations on the register, and a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or be willing to undergo an NDIS Worker Screening Check.

About St Vincent Hospital Melbourne's Residential Age Care service

St Vincent Hospital Melbourne is a values based public health service that provides residential aged care at three sites:

  • Auburn House - 30 bed aged person's mental health service. Located in East Camberwell
  • Prague House - 45 bed facility for people with a history of homelessness. Located in Kew
  • Berengarra - 90 bed aged residential facility, commissioned in 2021 and comprising two x 30 bed general aged care units and one aged person's mental health unit. Berengarra is co-located with St George's Health Service at 283 Cotham Rd, Kew and adjacent to Prague House.

We are part of SVHM's Continuing Care program, a key clinical service program in the fulfilment of our organisational mission.

The ADON role supports the Director of Nursing's oversight and management of all three sites.
