Join a leading mining operation and play a key role in environmental management and sustainability. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator to support and enhance environmental performance at a well-established open-cut coal mining operation in Central Queensland.
Description
As an Environmental Coordinator, you will work closely with site operations to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements while driving sustainability initiatives. Your focus will be on land management, rehabilitation, and environmental best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and monitor progressive rehabilitation efforts.
Implement erosion and sediment control measures.
Provide land disturbance advice and manage permitting.
Conduct assessments for closure planning and approvals.
Develop and execute environmental management plans.
Oversee contractors on environmental projects.
Support environmental reporting and compliance.
Engage with the workforce to promote environmental awareness.
Mentor and develop junior environmental team members.
Profile
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in environmental management within the mining or resources sector (preferably coal).
Supervisor qualifications - S1,2,3 & G2 (or ability to obtain).
Experience with rehabilitation planning, fauna management, and risk management processes.
Knowledge of environmental legislation and best practices.
Experience using GIS mapping software such as ArcGIS Pro.
Strong ability to manage contractors and engage with stakeholders.
A proactive approach to continuous improvement in environmental performance.
