Labour Connect have multiple varying projects commencing in the coming weeks for qualified Mechanical Fitters & Coded Welders
Projects are with Steel Manufacturers & Metal Fabricators, working both within the workshop and performing onsite installations across prestigious projects including the Western Sydney Airport, Garden Island Ship Navy contracts, high rise apartment blocks and major infrastructure projects across Sydney and regional areas

THE ROLES

From a full time temp to perm, workshop based opportunity to a lengthy contract erecting steel on site at the Western Sydney Airport, you will be committed to working in a team and with minimal supervision with the flexibility to work overtime when required

GENERAL DAILY DUTIES:

• Reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints to mark out, cut, weld and assemble steel and aluminium
• Perform welding in accordance with approved weld codes and codes
• Fabrication and installation of metalwork in high-end residential and infrastructure projects
• Carry out basic maintenance of weld machine and equipment for work area upkeep
• Follow all workshop and site safety procedures
• Training with specialised equipment will be offered for upskilling opportunities among continual training and development
• Diverse range of clients with a wide range of systems and working environments to continually challenge you and offer a rewarding experience
• Involves stainless steel, steel, aluminium, tig welding and fabrication both on site and in the workshop. Experience in all of these aspects is not essential - training towards competency will be offered

SELECTION CRITERIA

• Mechanical or Engineering Trade Qualification with Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
• Construction White Card
• Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints
• Comprehensive diagnostic skills & ability to solve mechanical issues
• Ability to follow instructions and accurately and safely complete tasks assigned
• Competent use of hand tools & machines utilised to cut, shape, bend, join, grind etc of metals
• Have gained exposure to relevant industries specialisations including manufacturing, production, and marine
• Must be able to perform welds according to ISO standards with relevant certifications
• Marine industry experience will be highly regarded
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team
• Valid Australian Driver’s License
• Good communication skills, both written & verbal
• Can understand and work to all OHS & safety requirements
• Full Australian working rights
• Full PPE - including High-Vis shirt, hard toe boots & hard hat
