About the Position
In this position, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining natural areas, operating and maintaining equipment such as chainsaws, spray tools, augers, and brush cutters for weed control and rehabilitation. You will ensure safety compliance, provide technical support for revegetation efforts, and assist with community planting days. Additionally, you will promote a culture of continuous improvement, uphold safety practices, and support local environmental initiatives.You will identify and control weeds in accordance with Permits issued by Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, Flora base City practices and relevant safety data sheets.
About the Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Environmental Field Officer with strong flora identification skills and a passion for the natural environment. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in environmental management, technical expertise, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting. You should be capable of identifying and managing weeds in line with city practices, conducting natural area restoration, and following safety measures specific to environmental fieldwork.
A key aspect of the role involves maintaining and operating equipment such as chainsaws and spray tools, as well as completing general reserve conservation tasks like rubbish removal and fencing. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with others, contribute to the achievement of team goals, and demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of their work. Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to safety, and an ability to foster an inclusive work environment are essential.
Essential Qualifications:
Environmental Science/Conservation University or TAFE Qualification
Pesticide use formal training
Current C class Licence
Current (or ability to obtain) Working with Children Clearance
WA White Card
Current First Aid Certificate
Desirable Qualifications:
Chainsaw Operator’s Certificate
