Your Opportunity

Are you driven by compassion and committed to empowering vulnerable youth? Eastern Murrumbidgee Youth Service (EMYS) is thrilled to announce incredible opportunities for passionate Youth Workers to join our dynamic team on a casual basis.

At EMYS, we are not just a service; we are dedicated to transforming lives. As an integral part of our team, you'll have the chance to make a real impact by supporting young individuals aged 16-25 through their toughest times.

As a Youth Worker, you'll be at the forefront of change, providing crucial interventions and supports to young people facing or at risk of homelessness. From offering case management to guiding education, essential life skills and employment paths, you'll be their beacon of hope.

Although this is not an identified position, we strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering a positive environment where young minds thrive.
  • Empower clients with essential life skills, from budgeting to meal preparation, ensuring they're equipped for independent living.
  • Work alongside our dedicated Case Managers, offering outreach support to those in need of a helping hand.

Requirements for Success:

  • Relevant qualifications in Social/Community Welfare/Youth Work/Social Science, or relevant experience
  • Understanding of youth at risk of homelessness
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of team and provide support.
  • Professional approach to the role including maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake basic functional day-to-day support of clients.
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • A current NSW drivers' licence

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Our culture

Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.

We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment. We actively support and encourage people of all backgrounds; gender, age, ethnicity, race, cultural background, disability, religion, and sexual orientation to submit an application and aim to ensure that the recruitment and employee experience is as accessible and inclusive as possible. So, whoever you are, if you're skilled and actively support our purpose and values, you would be welcome at Mission Australia.

If you live with disability and require support to submit your application, please email [email protected] or visit our Careers page for additional contact details.
