Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage a Cyber Security Specialist. This position is based in their Brisbane CBD office for a contract until 30 January 2026 + possible extension.

About the Position
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will provide security and solution architecture, design, and assurance services to ensure secure, fit-for-purpose solutions are implemented. This role supports risk management and ICT investment benefits realisation within a complex government environment.

Duties

• Work across security, application, and technology architecture domains.
• Develop and assure solution architecture artefacts (e.g., conceptual and logical solution designs, data integration models).
• Provide technical security advice, ensuring adherence to enterprise architecture strategies, roadmaps, and standards.
• Undertake options analysis and input into business cases.
• Support the Project Manager in identifying risks, issues, and priorities for successful project delivery.
• Engage with key stakeholders, including project managers, business analysts, and technical SMEs.

Requirements/Skills

• 7+ years of experience in architecture and/or cyber security.
• Experience in lead roles in security projects and operations.
• 5+ years of experience implementing technology/security roadmaps in large, complex organisations.
• Strong background in security best practices and frameworks, such as ISO 27001, IS18, NIST CSF, and TOGAF.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Experience in large-scale government or enterprise environments is highly desirable.
