Getting to know McLean’s Freight / Blok Freight
Since 1992, McLean’s Freight Service or MFS has been servicing the Northern Rivers with time critical, parcel express and bulk freight services. MFS is a family and locally owned company, with huge ambitions to grow.
The business currently operates in two facilities in Lismore and Murwillumbah, however we have some big targets coming in 2025, including a brand-new depot in Murwillumbah. We currently employ over 60 people with a fleet of 50 vehicles that covers Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales. You will be joining a can-do group of people who all share the same passion of under promising and over delivering for our customers and the community.
What is the role all about?
As our HR Generalist you'll play a vital role in our business, delivering a broad range of HR services and being responsible for providing advice and support across all stages of our employees’ journey, from recruitment to training, performance and retention. You will collaborate with our management and administrative team to ensure our human resource practices align with our company values and goals. The ideal candidate will champion employee success and have proven experience in designing and implementing workplace policies.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage recruitment processes including job postings, interviews and onboarding.
- Assist in the design and implementation of employee training and development.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and provide advice on policies and best practices.
- Support our management team in upholding company values and culture through employee engagement.
- Support employee relations including conflict resolution and performance management.
- Maintain employee records using a HRIS.
- Support overall safety by reviewing and updating procedures, incorporating safety initiatives into training, procuring PPE, and ensuring currency of first aiders.
- Process end-to-end weekly payroll. Approving timesheets, applying allowances, processing leave applications, deductions and termination payments.
- Bi-weekly visits to our Murwillumbah team.
Your skills and experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HR role.
- Highly effective communication skills and ability to maintain productive relationships with all levels of staff.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting industrial instruments.
- A proactive approach to tasks and ability to work independently.
