Qualifications & experience

• Applicants must enjoy working with and be able to demonstrate their interest in plants.
• Applicants must have good hand/eye coordination for propagation tasks.
• Applicants must have good attention to detail (essential).
• Applicants must fit in with existing team members (essential).
• Applicants must have strong work and safety ethics.
• Applicants must be fit and healthy, and able to undertake repetitive manual tasks.
• Applicants must be able/prepared to work outdoors in varied weather condition.
• Applicants must have good communication skills.
• Formal qualifications are not essential. You can/will be trained on the job.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Produce tube stock from cuttings, tissue culture and seed grown material which can be potted up and supplied to retail nurseries and landscapers.
• Collect and sow seed, possibly graft plants onto compatible root-stock, strike cuttings, pot small plants into tubes, maintain the stock, keep records, meet deadlines etc.
• Prepare plants, potting media, and containers for planting
• Assist with potting plants using the potting machine and by hand
• Water plants manually and with automatic watering systems
• Help recognise pests, diseases, weed and other plant disorders
• Assist with trimming and pruning plants at various stages of their life
• Assist with detailing and preparing plants for sale
• Comply with nursery hygiene practices
• Assist with nursery building and irrigation activities if required
