Join the STAR Team as Our Community Programs Assistant! Make a Meaningful Difference in Your Community!

Are you passionate about creating unforgettable experiences, supporting others, and making a real difference? Do you have the drive to help socially isolated seniors feel connected, valued, and happy? If so, we want YOU to join our team as our next Community Programs Assistant!

Who is STAR Community Services?

At STAR Community Services, our mission is simple: to empower seniors and people with disabilities to live independently, stay connected, and enjoy life to the fullest. Since 1996, we’ve been delivering vital services such as Transport, Home Care Packages, NDIS support, and engaging social programs to vulnerable community members. Above all, we are dedicated to tackling social isolation and fostering a strong sense of belonging for everyone. Now, we need a creative and passionate individual like you to help design and bring our vibrant social programs to life!

What’s in it for YOU?

  • Part-Time Role: Work 3 days per week (19 hours) in a dynamic and supportive environment, based in either our Cleveland or Ipswich Office.
  • Perks: Enjoy salary packaging for meal and entertainment expenses – more savings for you!
  • Employee Assistance Program: We’ve got your back with confidential support when you need it.
  • Make a Real Impact: Your role will directly reduce social isolation and bring smiles, laughter, and connections to seniors in our community.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Fun, Client-Focused Activities: You will plan and organise fun and engaging community events such as lunch clubs, charter trips, and more. From finding the perfect venues to booking and conducting risk assessments, you’ll ensure activities are accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for all.
  • Build Connections: You will create meaningful connections by ensuring every client has a great time, forging bonds that transcend the event itself. From the Redlands to Ipswich and beyond, your efforts will directly impact people’s lives.
  • Coordinate Every Detail: Behind the scenes, you will manage all logistics, from researching venues to coordinating safety measures, making sure every activity is executed flawlessly.
  • Lead Fun and Safe Activities: You will guide clients through engaging, interactive experiences, ensuring all activities are not only enjoyable but also safe, with volunteer companions providing added support as needed. You will be required to regularly attend and lead activities to seek feedback and ensure a positive impact.
  • Review Client Plans: Review client care plans to ensure the activities align with their individual needs, enhancing their experiences and providing personalised care.
  • Support and Manage Volunteers: Support a team of volunteers and be responsible for managing a small monthly roster. Ensure volunteers are provided with all the information and resources they need to effectively carry out their roles and assist clients.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel between Cleveland and Ipswich offices will be required to support program coordination and client needs.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A Passion for Service: You have a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of our clients, and it shows in everything you do.
  • Activity Planning Expertise: You are skilled at creating fun and engaging experiences that bring joy, laughter, and lasting connections.
  • Strong Administrative Skills: You are organised, detail-oriented, and excel at managing multiple tasks to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Exceptional Communication: Whether talking to colleagues, clients, volunteers, venue staff, or key stakeholders, you communicate with warmth, clarity, and professionalism.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification: Your current certificates ensure the safety and well-being of everyone during outings and activities.

We Value Diversity and Inclusion

We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce is essential in serving our community. We strongly encourage applications from individuals of all cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
