Pembroke School is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Basketball to lead and develop our basketball program. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of basketball at one of South Australia’s leading independent schools, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
As Head of Basketball, you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the basketball program from Reception to Year 12. Reporting to the Heads of Sport, you will work closely with coaches, students, and external organisations to ensure a high-quality experience for all players.
Some key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive basketball coaching philosophy and program.
- Leading training sessions and coaching development to support players at all levels.
- Liaising with Basketball SA, Basketball Australia, and local clubs to attract top-level coaching talent.
- Promoting school values through structured team and sport initiatives.
- Attending matches, providing coaching support and feedback, and ensuring teams compete in the true spirit of the game.
- Mentoring and supporting coaches in their ongoing professional development.
- Providing the Heads of Sport with regular updates on program performance, culture, and student progress.
- Out of hours work, including travel for trips and excursions is required.
About You
We are looking for an experienced basketball coach and leader who is committed to player development and fostering a positive sporting culture. You will have:
- Proven experience in coaching basketball at school, club, or representative levels.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor coaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, and parents.
- Experience developing training programs and player development pathways.
- A commitment to supporting students' growth, both as athletes and individuals.
- Strong organisational skills to manage training schedules and coaching responsibilities.
Prescribed Conditions for Employment:
- 2-Hour Fundamentals
- 4-Hour Masterclass
- Protective Practices Training
- Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect (RRHAN-EC) certification
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Department for Education Training (Plink)
- First Aid and CPR certification
