About the Client
Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. Rio Tinto is expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next-generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs, and improved health, safety, and environmental performance.
About the Role
WorkPac are seeking a Construction Advisor to oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with Rio Tinto’s standards and policies for Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSE). This role involves providing strong leadership, coaching, and ensuring safety and quality throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate with contractors, manage permits, and ensure the timely execution of project activities in line with Rio Tinto's goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all construction activities meet Rio Tinto's HSE standards and policies.
- Lead HSE inductions, training, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture and visible safety leadership.
- Lead contractors, ensuring compliance with Sustaining Capital delivery model.
- Issue permits, review JHAs & SWPs, and maintain project documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure safe and effective construction activities.
- Mentor contractors in RTIO systems and processes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience in construction project delivery in a mining environment.
- Strong commitment to HSE and safety leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with contractor partners and internal teams.
- Familiarity with RTIO systems and processes (desirable).
- Strong people management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to problem-solve complex issues and work effectively in changing environments.
- Ideally 10+ years’ project construction experience, with both Contractor and Owner’s team exposure.
- In-pit driving and dewatering project experience.
- Strong Civils experience.
