Our client is a reputable construction materials testing and consulting firm dedicated to providing accurate and reliable testing solutions. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality services to their clients while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and integrity. They are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Field Technician to join their team.
With two office locations in Melbourne, the successful candidate can be based in the south east or west, so long as travel to the office/ laboratory can be completed when needed.
About the role:
The Field Technician in the Construction and Materials Testing Industry is a member of the team who can carry out numerous tests as required to meet NATA Standards and internal test methods. The successful candidate requires an established capability for providing delegated technical control, potentially over a wide range of tests and/or material types.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field and laboratory testing as per test procedures outlined in the Quality Manual.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment after each testing session.
- Ensure proper calibration, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform laboratory checks as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
- Participate in training sessions arranged by the Laboratory Manager.
- Adhere to test procedures outlined in our Laboratory Quality and Procedures Manuals.
- Pursue formal training to obtain a minimum Level 3 Certificate in Construction Materials.
- Assist with other tasks or duties as assigned by higher-level Managers.
- Collaborate with Geotechnical Engineers to coordinate laboratory testing schedules for compaction testing projects.
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
- Level 1 or 2 Certificate in Construction Materials/ laboratory techniques or equivalent qualification.
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques.
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in the role of Field Technician.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in carrying out field testing independently and confidently.
- Being confident to carry out field and laboratory testing independently.
- Willingness to take on tasks that see the company operate efficiently.
- Being an organised member of the team.
- Ability to work under pressure if the need arises.
