St John of God Berwick Hospital has a total of 202 beds, eight operating theatres, a cardiac/vascular laboratory and six birthing suites. The hospital provides a wide range of services caring for inpatients, outpatients and day patients across a range of specialties including cardiology, maternity, medical and surgical, offering state of the art equipment and facilities to our rapidly growing community. The hospital has a 16 bed Critical Care Unit with 6 Intensive Care beds and 10 Cardiac/HDU beds. Our aim is to deliver the very best in health care at our Berwick Hospital.
Your Position at St John of God Berwick Hospital
You will be an integral multi-disciplinary team member providing a high standard of care for patients in the areas of patient care, patient transport and support of the nursing care team as directed.

This opportunity will primarily be to cover night shift, please indicate your availability in your cover letter - the ideal candidate will have flexibility with their availability.
The Position
- All direct patient care is carried out under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses.
- Transfer patients using all forms of patient transport to all areas of the Hospital.
- All duties are carried out in accordance with the duty list.
- Perform manual handling of patients under supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses.
- Assist Nursing Caregivers with the care of patients.
- Ensure privacy of patients is maintained.
- Understand role in an emergency and follow direction of the Coordinator.
- Maintain safe environment for patient contributing to patient comfort needs.
- Contribute to an efficient and timely patient admission, transfer and discharge process.
- Assist Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses in care of deceased patients.
- Provide focused supervision of a particular patient(s) as directed by Registered/Enrolled Nurse to eliminate risk to particular patient(s) eg provide companion support.
You will have Certificate III in Health Service Assistant (Client/Patient Services) or similar; or currently studying in a health-related field at a tertiary level or demonstrated experience providing support services. Ideally you will possess a minimum of 12 months experience within a healthcare setting.
To succeed you will have ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to identify work priorities, plan to meet them and demonstrate effectiveness in working in a team environment.

- Salary: $33.10 to $36.20 per hour - dependant on qualification/certificate (casual loading included), plus 11.5% superannuation
