The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead our Finance team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing accounting and finance functions, ensuring compliance, delivering financial reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.
As a key finance leader, you will work closely with senior leadership, including the CFO, to enhance financial processes, manage risk, and drive operational efficiencies.
We seek a candidate with a strong technical accounting background and preferably ASX-listed experience. The ideal candidate will be CPA or CA qualified, with solid post-qualification experience and expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and inter-company transactions.
- Act as the technical lead on complex accounting matters, including acquisitions, due diligence, financial modelling, divestments, lease accounting, and goodwill impairment testing.
- Ensure compliance with AGAAP updates affecting Sequoia’s financial reporting.
Business Analysis & Reporting
- Manage group consolidation results, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting (monthly, half-yearly, and annually).
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting, providing insights to drive financial performance.
- Ensure financial policies remain up to date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Financial Risk Management & Compliance
- Manage tax obligations, AFSL compliance, and financial risk mitigation.
- Oversee all direct and indirect tax reporting, including annual income tax returns, payroll tax, FBT, and BAS preparation.
- Ensure compliance reporting for three AFSL entities, including NTA calculations and preparation of the quarterly consolidated cash flow.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Support professional growth within the team through coaching and development initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and assist the CFO with strategic projects and initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA or CA qualified.
- Strong financial planning & analysis (FP&A) skills.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller (ASX-listed experience preferred but not essential).
