The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for Senior Maintenance Electricians within the Property Services Branch. The Property Service Branch is seeking to recruit motivated, adaptable, and innovative people for Senior Maintenance Electrician roles within Electrical Services. Electrical Services is a unit within Maintenance Services, responsible for the electrical infrastructure, associated plant and equipment of the building.
Maintenance Services is the maintenance authority for Parliament House and is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape, and all engineering services such as air-conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services, and movement systems.
As part of the Electrical Services team, the successful candidate will be required to contribute to the overall service delivery of Electrical Services by undertaking tasks including, but not limited to, maintenance and repair works to a wide variety of plant and equipment, electrical installation, minor project management, and staff supervision.
The role requires working with a wide variety of clients, both internal and external to the Parliament, in a dynamic work environment where priorities and deadlines frequently change. The team provides the resources to carry out planned and breakdown maintenance with a mix of in-house trade staff and external contractors.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have extensive electrical trade experience
- Have the ability to work at height, (Work at heights to 80metres will be required)
- Be a team player and contribute expertise and guidance to effectively achieve outcomes
- Have the ability to work with maintenance management and control systems
- Have excellent communication skills and be able to negotiate clearly and confidently with clients, internal staff, and agencies.
Job Specific Requirements
- Hold and Maintain an ACT Unrestricted Electricians licence. Interstate/Territory licenced persons required to obtain appropriate ACT licence before engagement.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Trade qualifications relevant to the duties with related experience.
- Work flexible working arrangements (up to 30% including 9 weekend days) to meet operational requirements including Parliamentary sitting, shifts, on-call rosters, out of hours works, weekends and duties as required, in the current Departmental Enterprise Agreement 2024 and any future agreements.
- The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
Desirable:
- Maintenance and breakdown experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Building Management Systems; Controls systems.
- Building Electrical reticulation and supply.
- Electric motors, Variable Speed Drivers
- Vehicle/pedestrian access controls and equipment.
- Uninterruptable powers systems UPS.
- Fire rated and data cabling.
