About the role
Senior Communications Coordinator is responsible for leading the project management and implementation of SNAICC’s campaigns and priority projects across the organisation. The role will project manage communications for externally facing events and initiate and support internal activities. The Senior Communications Coordinator will ensure high-quality, accessible, and relevant information and resources are provided to SNAICC members, supporters and key stakeholders that promote the organisation’s strategic outcomes.

What you'll be doing
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan to raise awareness of SNAICC's programs and initiatives
  • Producing high-quality written content for SNAICC's website, social media channels, newsletters and other publications
  • Managing media relations, including drafting press releases, responding to media enquiries and building relationships with key journalists
  • Overseeing the design and production of SNAICC's marketing and promotional materials
  • Monitoring and analysing the effectiveness of SNAICC's communications activities and making recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborating with the wider SNAICC team to ensure consistent messaging and brand identity
  • Providing communications support and advice to SNAICC's programs and projects as required
What we're looking for
  • Significant experience in a senior communications or marketing role, ideally within the not-for-profit or social services sector
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in media relations, social media management and content creation
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and community engagement
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field

Established in 1981, SNAICC – National Voice for our Children is the national non-government peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. SNAICC’s vision is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families are protected, our communities determine their own futures, and our cultural identity is valued. We work to amplify the voice of community and the sector for the fulfilment of the rights of our children.

SNAICC plays a key role in the following areas:

  • Research and policy development, with high-level leadership, policy and sector representation
  • Training and resource design, development and delivery including topics such as early childhood development, partnerships, family support, trauma, and cultural competency.
  • Support for sector development, membership, and networking.
About the Unit:

The Strategic Engagement and Communications team is a small team of communication specialists responsible for all internal and external communications and marketing to drive: media and sector engagement; stakeholder engagement; organisational membership; and branding and awareness - to advance the needs, rights and aspiration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
