Thomson Family Lawyers are a boutique law firm practising exclusively in Family Law, with a small but dynamic and friendly team. We are a suburban based firm situated in Osborne Park, providing our staff and clients ease of access to our office, with ample free parking on site. By practising exclusively in the area of Family Law, we provide our clients with a specialised and expert service, assisting them to navigate their family law matters. We aim to assist our clients to achieve their goals, by settlement of matters where possible, and otherwise, with support through the litigation process, with a focus always on the most cost-effective, pragmatic and expeditious approach possible.

The Role

Thomson Family Lawyers are seeking an experienced full-time family lawyer to join our dynamic and friendly team, although part-time applicants will also be considered. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a team, including delegating work, yet will also enjoy working autonomously and possess the ability to work well under pressure. Experience practising in family law is essential for this role.

The successful applicant must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook. The successful applicant will require initiative and the ability to work unsupervised, as well as being able to work collaboratively with a team. Demonstration of a friendly and professional attitude in dealing with clients and our team of staff is central to this role. A high level of attention to detail is strongly desired.

The successful applicant will manage their own files, including working in areas such as:

• Mediation and Dispute Resolution;
• Divorce;
• Financial Settlement;
• Parenting matters;
• Family Violence Orders; and
• Child Support & Spousal Maintenance matters.

If suitably experienced, the successful applicant will also have opportunities to work with Restraining Order matters and Care and Protection matters. Court appearances (which will involve travel with costs reimbursed) will also encompass part of the successful applicant's role. The role will involve provision of high quality legal advice to clients, drafting of legal documents, advocacy and collaboration.

Requirements

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic lawyer with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being ready and able to hit the ground running.

You will require the following to apply for this role:

• A law degree (or equivalent) and eligibility to practice as a Legal Practitioner in Australia;
• 2+ PAE years of experience practising in family law, including Court appearances, preferably in Western Australia, but otherwise, within Australia;
• Strong knowledge of family law legislation, procedures, and court processes;
• A passion for providing high quality legal advice, with an empathetic yet objective approach;
• Ability to work autonomously, independently and efficiently, as well as a willingness and ability to work as part of a small team;
• Experience working in a high-pressured environment with competing priorities;
• Strong time management and efficiency skills; and
• Knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office applications.
