Thomson Family Lawyers are seeking a full time managing senior solicitor to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior family lawyer to join a busy boutique Family Law firm in a managerial role, ideal for furthering the existing skills and experience of a senior family lawyer. The successful candidate will have no less than five (5) years' experience practising in family law and must demonstrate a mature and capable attitude towards working in a team, including management of team members and delegating work, and will demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure. The successful candidate will operate with relative autonomy, as well as initiative and judgement to manage moderate to complex cases and practical and precise legal advice.

The successful candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and must have proficient typing skills. Time management skills are essential and experience working with dictation will be ideal. This role will require initiative and the ability to work unsupervised, as well as being able to work collaboratively with a team, including supervision of juniors and mentoring and, at times, managing our small team. Mentoring will form part of the role, including settling work of junior lawyers, being “shadowed” in Court and client appointments to facilitate training and mentorship, and an ability to collaborate with other team members on works in matters, as required. Demonstration of a friendly and professional attitude in dealing with clients and our team of staff will be vital to this role, as well as having a high level of attention to detail.

The successful candidate will have sole carriage of their own matters across various areas within family law practice including Divorce, Financial Settlement, Binding Financial Agreements, Child Related matters, Child Support matters and - if suitably experienced - Family Violence Restraining Order matters and Care & Protection matters. The successful candidate will draw upon their legal and professional experience to provide high level legal advice and advocacy across the range of family law practice areas. Court appearances (which will involve travel with costs reimbursed) will encompass part of the successful applicant's role and may include mentoring of junior lawyers in Court appearances, from time to time.
