About the role
We are looking for an experienced Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Advisor to join our team on a short-term contract (3–6 months) to provide support after a manufacturing site transition and drive WHS improvements. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to work closely with operational teams. You will report directly to the Operations Manager and HR Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
• WHS Auditing & Compliance: Conduct audits of risk assessments, JSAs, SOPs, and SWIs to identify and address gaps.
• Process Improvement: Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans, policies, procedures, and work instructions and task competency for high-risk machinery and tasks.
• Training & Competency Management: Oversee the WHS training and competency platform (Lucidity), ensuring task sign-offs and compliance.
• Incident Management: Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives, managing all incidents in the safety platform (Lucidity)
• Risk Management: Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and develop control strategies.
• Workplace Engagement: Collaborate with supervisors, team leaders, and manufacturing employees to embed safety best practices.
• Return-to-Work Coordination: Act as an on-site rehab coordinator, supporting injured workers with suitable duties plans and WorkCover processes.
• Safety Meetings & Reporting: Lead HSR and safety meetings on a weekly/quarterly basis and provide advice on WHS legislative requirements (Work Health and Safety Act 2011 & Regulation 2011).
About You:
• Experience: Proven experience as a WHS Advisor, Officer, or Coordinator in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, and safety systems.
• Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to influence teams and drive a proactive safety culture.
• Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to risk assessment and hazard identification.
• Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or a similar discipline.
