The Barkandji Native Title Group Aboriginal Corporation (BNTGAC) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Project Officer to join our team in Broken Hill. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Barkandji community, support the Barkandji Rangers, and contribute to the preservation of culture, land, and heritage.

About Us

The Barkandji Native Title Group Aboriginal Corporation represents the Barkandji People, the Traditional Owners of the land in and around the Darling River (Baaka) in far-west NSW. We are committed to protecting our cultural heritage, managing our native title rights, and delivering programs that benefit our community and country.

Key Responsibilities

As a Project Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Barkandji Rangers and the broader operations of BNTGAC. Your responsibilities will include:

Grant Writing:

Research, identify, and apply for funding opportunities to support Barkandji Rangers’ activities and other community projects.

Prepare high-quality grant applications, ensuring alignment with funding criteria and organizational goals.

Report Writing:

Develop and submit detailed reports for funded projects, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.

Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

Project Coordination:

Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Barkandji Rangers’ activities, including land management, cultural preservation, and community engagement initiatives.

Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, community members, and partner organizations.

Administrative Support:

Assist with the day-to-day operations of BNTGAC, including record-keeping, budgeting, and communication.

Provide logistical support for meetings, events, and training sessions.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience in grant writing and report writing, with a proven track record of securing funding.

Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

A commitment to working respectfully and collaboratively with Indigenous communities.

Knowledge of Indigenous culture, land management, and native title issues (desirable but not essential).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
