The newly named BlendED by Saints College formally St Joseph’s offers an inclusive and non-discriminating learning community to young people, who for a variety of reasons, make the choice to attend a specialised learning environment. Operates across multiple campuses, located in Melbourne, Geelong, Colac, Ballarat, and a dual engagement virtual learning campus, BlendED. The young people who attend have typically experienced one or more significant and complex educational, social, developmental, psychological, health, legal or familial situations which demand unique responses. Such interventions are embedded within the Operation By Principles framework, which combine education with an understanding of trauma-informed practice.

Join Our Team as an Education Support Officer!

Are you passionate about supporting a young person’s engagement in learning and maximizing learning outcomes for young people who need significant adjustments and interventions to their learning program?

Your focus:

  • Provide individualised support to students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities, learning challenges, or other educational needs.
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, and engagement in the online learning environment and report concerns to teachers or wellbeing staff.
  • Assist students with navigating the online learning platform and resolving technical issues.
  • Facilitate small group or one-on-one virtual sessions to provide additional support or reinforce learning.
  • Facilitate NCCD learning adjustment and upload evidence to NCAPP.
  • Encourage student participation in online discussions, forums, and class activities to promote engagement and social interaction.
  • Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports as required including court support letters, and comments for end of Semester School Reports.
  • Maintain up to date file notes on School database – TASS.
  • Support the development of personal learning plans, safety and support plans and engagement plans.
  • Participate in care team meetings where required.
  • Complete other administrative tasks which support class functions such as Daily Activity Intention forms and Venue Proformas.

  • Demonstrated ability to support colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Disability Standards for Education.
  • Demonstrated understanding of learning support strategies for young people diagnosed with a disability.
  • Demonstrated willingness to reflect on and develop own practice, as well as contributing to ongoing school development.
  • Ability to provide a range of flexible programs and activities which successfully engage and support young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and build quality working relationships.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning for self and others to enable further development of skills, expertise and teaching capacity
  • Resilient and able to develop resilience in others with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Ability and willingness to travel to school sites and attend professional development as required.

The Role

This role is a full -time 1.0FTE ongoing position, working both in the office and from home, with travel to school sites.

You will be employed on an ongoing basis, commencing in March 2025, and will be employed under the Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022. The salary will be $81, 334 (Education Support Employee Level 3), plus superannuation and leave loading.

You will need:

  • Ability to commit to and work within our Operating Principles; Respect, Participation, Safe and Legal and Honesty.
  • Formal qualifications at a diploma/degree level.
  • Qualifications in youth work or social work would be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience and/or qualifications relevant to supporting and/or leading an organisations commitment to being a child safe organisation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Victorian Working with Children Check and provide a National Police Check certificate (issued within the last six months).
