Client Details

The is a permanent role with a global mining organisation, working with a range a stakeholders to delivery business improvement solutions through the application of data, operational and engineering expertise.

Please note, mining industry and data science technical experience (including working as a team lead) is essential to be considered for this role.

While the position isn't 'hands on' day to day, you will be expected to perform code reviews and improvements on occasion, so a technical background in Data Science (particularly in Python and advanced SQL) is a must.

Description

This position has a mix of team lead, technical, and project management responsibilities, including:

• Lead a team of approx. 6-8 Data Scientists.
• Mentor your team to help them grow their knowledge and skills.
• Build working relationships with the organisation's wider data community.
• Identify business requirements to address stakeholder problems by applying advanced analytics techniques.
• Deliver advanced analytics projects and providing technical leadership.
• Explain and present analytics solutions to both technical and senior business stakeholders.

Profile

Skills and experience required:

• Proven team leadership capability in a professional environment. This includes solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and develop your team members.
• Strong presentation and communication skills. You can influence stakeholders within different areas of expertise.
• Experience in guiding and mentoring data analytics professionals. You can provide technical leadership to your team to help solve problems and streamline analysis.
• Demonstrated experience delivering performance improvement solutions for business problems by applying data analysis, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques to generate business value.
• Experience in project management - this includes scoping, planning and delivery using a disciplined approach to attain project goals.
• Knowledge of industry standard analysis tools and approaches. This includes data platforms, programming languages and data analysis technologies.
• Mining, resource industry, operations, or equivalent heavy industries experience is essential.

Other highly regarded skills include experience in:

• Engineering consulting and/or management consulting.
• Leading Agile teams and projects.

Job Offer
