Job Description

About the role

Salary: $159,840 - $200 000 + Super per annum

In this newly created role reporting to our Head of Data & Insights, you will be accountable for leading a high-performing team in delivering actionable insights and operationalising data science models to drive significant business transformation.

The Data Science and Insights Manager will effectively use their technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that directly contribute to revenue growth, cost optimisation, customer experience, risk management and operational efficiency.

In addition, you will:

  • Play your part in the leadership team to execute strategy and drive a positive culture
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced predictive models, machine learning algorithms, generative AI capabilities and statistical analyses that support business decision-making and customer experience at scale.
  • Act as subject matter expert lead for the organisation on all things data science, coaching and training team members in this area, maintaining a contemporary, industry-leading knowledge of tools, systems & use cases.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data scientists and analysts, empowering them to deliver high-impact projects and contribute to business value.
  • Deliver measurable business outcomes, ensuring that the data science & insights team's contributions translate into quantifiable return on investment (ROI) of $20m+ bottom line business value per annum.
  • Ensure insights and models are deployed live in practice, influencing business change to ensure quantifiable results are achieved in practice.

Qualifications

About You

Alongside your technical experience and capabilities, you’ll be a skilled communicator who can take your stakeholders on the data and insights journey and work collaboratively with all members of our business.

You are commercially focused with the ability to correctly assess the impact of decisions on business outcomes, with capability in the following areas:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Data Science or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams delivering and operationalising data science projects
  • Proven track record of delivering at least $10 million in annual value through data-driven business strategies, with specific examples of impactful initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in advanced analytics, predictive modelling, machine learning and generative AI.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing business change at scale through data insights.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
