About the role
We are looking for a skilled Truck Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trucks and heavy vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are in optimal working condition, adhering to safety standards, and performing preventative maintenance. Your role will involve working with a range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. You should be comfortable using diagnostic tools and equipment, and have a strong understanding of vehicle systems and components. The ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, is essential. You will also need to keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, and communicate effectively with other team members and customers. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. Tasks & responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative care on vehicles.
- Repair and replace faulty parts and components.
- Conduct inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety standards.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines.
- Test drive vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
- Provide estimates for repair costs and timelines.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics.
- Respond to emergency repair requests.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and systems.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications & experience
- Australian/NZ Recognized Heavy Vehicle Trade Certificate
- Current Drivers License
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a truck mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
