About us

The Red Lily Health Board Aboriginal Corporation (RLHB) is a regional health service that aims to empower Aboriginal people in the West Arnhem region, seeking to address health issues in the community with the long-term vision improving health outcomes by establishing a regional Aboriginal community-controlled model of service delivery.

About Gunbalanya:

300km east of Darwin and 60km northeast of Jabiru across the East Alligator River in Arnhem Land. Gunbalanya is a major Aboriginal town in Arnhem Land, with a school (pre-school to Year 12), service station and convenience store, supermarket, police station, crèche facilities, aged care, sports and social club, butcher and community arts centre in the community. Also for community to use are 25-metre swimming pool, sports ovals, youth centre and basketball facilities.

Access to Gunbalanya:

Year-round via air charter from Jabiru Airport.

Dry season (May-Sept): Road access.

Wet season (Oct-Apr): The river crossing at Cahill’s Crossing, East Alligator River, is usually impassable.

About the Role:

The position will be part of the Red Lily Clinical Services team (based at Gunbalanya) that delivers high quality and culturally secure primary healthcare to all people in the Gunbalanya region. You will be responsible for providing high quality and culturally appropriate primary healthcare to the community of Gunbalanya and surrounding homelands, including visitors. This position requires an understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, principles of Primary Health Care and relevant legislation governing work practices in a remote health setting.

You will be part of a team that includes Health Centre Manager, GP, Remote Area Nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and administration staff working alongside community engagement workers, as well as a wide range of outreach specialists and service providers. The position will be supported by an experienced remote leadership team reporting to the Director of Primary Healthcare.

1. Current registration with AHPRA
2. Experience in remote area setting in Australia
3. Proven clinical experience and adaptability
4. Strong communication and teamwork skills
5. A commitment to ongoing professional development
6. Ready to travel to remote communities by air and 4WD,
7. Participate in a 24-hour on-call roster.
