We're on the lookout for a dedicated, passionate and inspiring Team Leader to lead a team of dedicated and passionate Organisers and Member Organisers based in North Queensland. This is a permanent role where you can make a real difference in the lives of Nurses and Midwives.
Key Responsibilities
The Regional North Organising team is responsible for driving transformational activism agenda through the facilitation of QNMU member workplace activity in the pursuit of industrial and professional advancement for Nurses and Midwives.
As the Team Leader you will report to the Director, Organising and Professional Services and be responsible for coordinating the team’s day to day operations by prioritising team workflow, providing leadership, direction, guidance, support and coaching to team members. The Team Leader is responsible for both the day-to-day management of the team and undertaking a leadership role in the professional work performed by the team.
About You
You are a well organised, excellent communicator who can lead and inspire a team to achieve both team and organisational objectives. To succeed in this role, you will possess the following:
- Current registration with Ahpra as a Nurse and/or a Midwife
- A current and valid driver’s license.
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience within nursing and/or midwifery roles.
- Demonstrated history of activism within the QNMU or other nursing/midwifery union.
- Knowledge of contemporary nursing and/or midwifery practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the health sector
- Good knowledge of industrial relations systems generally.
- High-level of written and verbal communication skills in order to persuade, influence or convince on a diverse range of issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and take a collaborative approach to work
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, establish priorities, use initiative and be proactive in raising and dealing with issues and achieve positive outcomes.
- High level of negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply research, critically analyse, evaluate, problem solve and articulate a logical and clear position on an issue.
- An ability to travel away from home for up to five (5) nights at a time
