About The Team

The Personalised Medicine Centre (formally the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics) and headed by the Director forms part of Murdoch University's commitment to excellence in health and medical research. The Centre brings together researchers and clinicians from across the university and Perron Institute to apply the tools of personalised medicine to the treatment and diagnosis of an increasing range of diseases

Your New Role!

The successful candidate will undertake laboratory work required for the completion of specific research projects, primarily funded by CMMIT.

Your key responsibilities include -

  • Conducting experiments using tissue culture, molecular biology, synthetic nucleic acid techniques and immunochemistry.
  • Performing research into the manipulation of transcript splicing to modify gene expression for therapeutic outcomes, using antisense oligomer-based techniques and a variety of in vitro and in vivo approaches.
  • Restocking, organising and maintenance of laboratories.
  • Updating databases.
  • Producing data for preparation of research papers for scholarly journals.
  • Maintain clear and detailed accounts of experimental procedures and results.
  • Maintain clear laboratory records and analyses data using statistical and graphics programs.

This Fixed Term (12 Months) | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $70,000 - $86,000 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

Selection Criteria:

  • Completion of a relevant degree with honours or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training in tissue culture.
  • Experience with immunohistochemical assay.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques.
  • Relevant experience and ability to coordinate data collection and undertake other research studies.
  • Technical laboratory skills, and ability to maintain clear and accurate laboratory records.
