Position Overview

This cadetship is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring planner currently undertaking a tertiary qualification in land use planning. As a Planning Officer, you will play a key role in assessing development applications, assisting in strategic planning, and ensuring compliance with planning regulations within the Kyogle Local Government Area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and process development applications in accordance with planning legislation.
• Assist in the preparation of Local Strategic Planning Statements, Local Environmental Plans, and Development Control Plans.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with approved development conditions.
• Investigate unauthorised developments and assist with enforcement actions.
• Provide technical advice and prepare reports on planning and development matters.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, community stakeholders, and government agencies.
• Contribute to a workplace culture of performance, integrity, and continuous improvement.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

• Be currently enrolled in an accredited land use planning course.
