About the client

Our client has been solving financial challenges within B2B Trade finance and serving global businesses with over $1 billion in Trade Payments. They provide a complete cashflow management platform, enabling customer and supplier payments and providing innovative credit-based solutions to help businesses grow.

They are looking for a Senior Collections - Legal Recovery Officer to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently and effectively recovering outstanding debts through negotiation, payment arrangements, settlements, and legal proceedings.

The role requires a strong understanding of debt recovery processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with external stakeholders, including solicitors, mercantile agencies, and insolvency practitioners.

The role

The role has the following responsibilities:

Debt Collection

• Manage late-stage arrears and bad debt portfolios.
• Initiate contact with debtors to negotiate payment arrangements and settlements.
• Pursue all available avenues to recover outstanding debts in a timely manner.

Legal proceedings management

• Assess accounts for potential legal action and determine the appropriate course of action.
• Provide clear instructions and guidance to legal partners regarding debt recovery proceedings.
• Monitor and manage legal cases from initiation to resolution, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.

Management reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all debt recovery activities and legal proceedings.
• Prepare reports and documentation as required, including weekly/monthly recovery reports

Customer service

• Handle inquiries and disputes from debtors in a professional and courteous manner.
• Provide assistance and support to debtors in understanding their obligations and resolving outstanding debts.

Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to debt collection and legal proceedings.
• Stay informed about changes in legislation and industry standards that may impact debt recovery processes.

Experience required

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in collections, bad debt recovery or a related field.
• Proven track record of successfully resolving delinquent accounts through legal means.
• Strong understanding of debt collection laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with excellent time management skills.
• Ability to handle pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
