Your new team:
Orygen Specialist Program is a program of the Mental Health Service at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Orygen @ Home is an acute service providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness within the home environment.
Providing access to care 24 hours, 7 days per week by a multidisciplinary team, Orygen @ Home ensures comprehensive, collaborative and coordinated mental health care to young people aged 12 to 25 and their families/carers in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.
The team deliver individually tailored services that comprise mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, discipline led interventions, medication, therapeutic interventions (CBT plus other targeted interventions), family inclusive practices, vocational and educational support, intensive outreach, and crisis support.
Your new role:
The Mental Health Clinician supports the provision of comprehensive clinical acute mental health care to young people and families of the Orygen @ Home program. Contribute to general and discipline approaches in providing this comprehensive care within the Orygen @ Home model.
In this role you will:
- Partner with young people and their families/carers to provide inpatient-like care within the home environment.
- Provide discipline interventions and recovery-focused care in the home .
- Demonstrate skills in mental health assessment, risk assessment, therapeutic interventions, least restrictive practices and improved outcomes, using evidence based best practice.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and receive supervision and support through professional development.
- Uphold the principles of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
About You:
- Passionate about mental health care and in making a positive impact to the lives of young people and their families/carers.
- Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
- Previous experience in clinical practice as a Mental Health Clinician - Psychiatric Nurse (In-patient or Community)/Allied Health Professional (with tertiary mental health experience), and preferably with young people.
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate client centred individual service plans, risk assessments and diagnostic formulations.
- Ability to provide, or develop skills in, integrated assessment, treatment and care for consumers with dual diagnoses.
