About the role

We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated, digital communications professional to join our team.

  • Employment type/hours: Permanent Part-Time (15.2 hours per week)
  • Proposed commencement date: Immediate Start

The Digital Communications Officer is an important role to support with implementing Council's digital communications and social media programs ensuring content is engaging, timely and effective. This role regularly reviews, writes, edits and updates online content as well as creates engaging and relevant content for Council's digital platforms and social media channels.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with Council officers and subject matter experts to develop digital and social media communication plans and content to promote Council programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Review, write, edit and update content for Council's website platforms in line with Council's visual identity guidelines.
  • Create and manage video and photo content to support staff projects, specifically 'rates at work' content, capital projects, services and initiatives.
  • Create and implement a forward looking 30-day content calendar that supports council's strategic objectives, priorities, events and campaigns.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Council's presence on social media channels not currently utilised.
  • Monitor and engage with social media posts in accordance with Council's endorsed social media policy and approved key messaging.
  • Assist in the production of the weekly YOUR INDIGO e-newsletter.
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by the Engagement and Communications Advisor.

About you

You will have:

An excellent knowledge of communications, marketing and social media principles.

Full competence of Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, to assist with day-to-day activities as well as Adobe Creative Suite software or Canva.

An understanding or government environments.

Well-developed written and oral communication skills.

Well-developed organisational & time management skills.

Qualifications in communications, marketing or associated discipline or relevant experience.
