Our Client, a large Federal Government Department is seeking to engage a suitably skilled Communications Officer for a great opportunity to contribute to a massive multi-year program that will make meaningful difference to people's lives.

The Communications Officer role sits in the Program Support Section. Responsible for branch-wide communications, change initiatives and capability uplift across our workforce. They coordinate and facilitate branch wide forums and support external engagement. Their focus is improving branch culture & identity, uplift capability by building soft skills, as well as, supporting branch wide engagement, communication and change initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting clear, concise and effective communications for different audiences, including creation of narratives, key messages, talking points and products;
  • Ability to understand complex technical information and translate for non-technical audiences;
  • Identifying and developing important internal stakeholder relationships, addressing and resolving any emerging challenges with stakeholders;
  • Enhance the branch's SharePoint solution to ensure it is functional and user friendly;
  • Contribute, design and deliver communication, change, engagement and training initiatives/plans;
  • Coordinate and facilitate branch wide presentations;
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Contribute to the development of team goals, work plans, ways of working and section planning to align with strategic objectives;
  • Assist with other tasks and activities outside of these duties, to support the team goals and objectives.

Key capabilities:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Critical thinking and the ability to exercise sound judgement and active listening;
  • Strong organisation, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills;
  • Possess well developed interpersonal skills with an emphasis on working collaboratively to build productive relationships;
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple, ongoing priorities successfully and concurrently;
  • Understand project lifecycles and the ability to acquire knowledge of the technical solutions related to the work environment.
