About the Role:

As a Nurse Practitioner in Australian medical clinics, you will play a vital role in delivering advanced clinical care to patients across a variety of medical settings. Your responsibilities will include providing patient assessments, diagnosing and treating common illnesses, managing chronic conditions, prescribing medications, and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. You will contribute to both permanent and temporary clinic roles, ensuring seamless support for day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care: Provide comprehensive assessments, diagnostic services, and treatment plans for patients in collaboration with the medical team.
  • Prescribing & Medications: Prescribe medications, treatments, and interventions within your scope of practice in accordance with Australian laws and medical guidelines.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients about their health, treatment options, disease prevention, and health promotion strategies.
  • Chronic Disease Management: Monitor and manage patients with chronic conditions, providing continuity of care and coordinating with other specialists when required.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with GPs, medical specialists, allied health professionals, and other healthcare staff to provide integrated care.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records, documenting care provided and treatment plans, in compliance with clinic policies and regulations.
  • Support: Provide temporary support during high-demand periods or cover for permanent staff in various clinics, ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
  • Leadership: Offer guidance and mentoring to junior staff, including nursing and administrative teams, especially in temporary support roles.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualification: Registered Nurse with a Master’s Degree in Nurse Practitioner (NP) or equivalent qualification.
  • Certification: Nurse Practitioner registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Medicare Prescriber Number - Willing to apply and obtain - Cost covered!
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in primary healthcare, emergency care, or related medical specialties.
  • Prescribing Rights: Authorised to prescribe medications under the scope of practice for Nurse Practitioners in Australia.
  • Clinical Skills: Proficient in performing assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing care plans for patients of all ages.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in both permanent and temporary roles, including providing short-term cover during peak periods.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Technology: Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology systems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Specialised Experience: Experience in areas such as mental health, paediatrics, geriatric care, or urgent care.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor and support a team of nurses and healthcare staff.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel or relocate across different clinics in regional or urban areas of Australia.
