What skills and experience do I need?

You don't need any prior experience or qualifications to be a CCO.

What type of work will I do in the CCO role?

Below are some of the role's responsibilities. If you are successful, these are some of the activities you would do:

  • Induct prisoners into the centre.
  • Staff prisoner accommodation units.
  • Support and oversee prisoner attendance at vocational training, education & employment.
  • Support engagement in cultural programs.
  • Create file notes and reports for case management.
  • Operate control rooms.
  • Undertake perimeter surveillance and searches.
  • External escorts.

About Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre (men's) and Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (women's)

  • The Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre is currently under construction.
  • When complete in 2024, it will be a men's facility that will focus on rehabilitation to reduce offending.
  • Southern Queensland Correctional Centre is a women's facility that provides high security placement accommodation for sentenced and remand women that are classified as high or low security.
