Stagpole Street Rehabilitation Unit offers rehabilitation and culturally appropriate healing, predominantly to Aboriginal and Torrest Strait Islander peoples across Queensland. Your Part in the Pinangba Team
The Intake and Assessment Worker will be the first point of contact for clients seeking access to our services. This position works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team at Pinangba and will be responsible for the intake, assessment and pre and post admission process for all potential clients, as well establishing strong working relationships with local government, elders, health and service providers in community to support positive client outcomes.
A day in the role will see you:
- Deliver accountable and collaborative integrated AOD services and therapeutic interventions during intake and assessment, that respect the culture and context of each client, family and community, in accordance with policies and procedures and systemic family therapy practice framework.
- Identify barriers and support clients pre and post admission to access appropriate services to support admission as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this includes (medical detox, at home detox, health assessments, day-of-admission, referrals to community services).
- Participate and contribute productively as a team member to form culturally appropriate, professional working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, (including children, young people and families) Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), and other service providers.
- Foster a culture and philosophy of quality frontline service delivery based on collaboration, cooperation, commitment to excellence and professional ethics.
- Maintain quality case records in accordance with case work/ case management requirements.
- Deliver and facilitate/co-facilitate psychoeducation programs specific to project outcomes.
- Undertake on-call responsibilities in line with current skills level and organisational requirements.
What Makes a Difference for us?
You'll have a genuine passion for supporting people to overcome addiction with the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Welfare, Human Services, Health, Family Therapy, Education or other related disciplines or ability to demonstrate a history of working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families within a related sector/discipline/position.
- Ability to participate in continuous learning, training and professional development.
- Hold a Drivers Licence - The possession of an Australian "O" (open) or "P2" (provisional green P plate) and "C" or "CA" class driver's licence.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking assessments in accordance with AOD guidelines and evidence based practice.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering holistic outcome focused interventions for families or individuals living with substance use and complex mental health issues.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and knowledge of culturally appropriate practice.
- Demonstrated experience in contributing to quality improvement practices
