Holyoake is a leading provider of counselling and support services for people impacted directly and indirectly by alcohol, other drugs, and related mental health issues. We operate through five locations in Victoria Park, Midland, Northam, Narrogin, and Merredin, and employ over 100 staff.
We are inviting applications from Peer Support Workers to work within the North East Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Service (NEMCADS) team on a part-time basis until 16 February 2026, with the possibility of extension. This is a great opportunity to work within a supportive team environment and make a meaningful difference in the community. This role is 42.5 hours per fortnight (FTE 0.57).

Key responsibilities:
- Use your lived experience to support people to reduce the impact of alcohol and drug use in their lives.
- Co-facilitate SMART Recovery groups with another Peer Support Worker or a Counsellor.
- Provide information about community resources and services to help people find the right support for them.
Skills required:
- Previous experience of your own issues with alcohol or other drugs (AOD) and accessing AOD services.
- An understanding of privacy/confidentiality and appropriate conduct.
- Ability to manage relationships and establish boundaries.
- The ability to manage your own issues with alcohol or other drugs, and to demonstrate strategies for maintaining good wellbeing that can be shared with others.
- Ability to talk about your own experience productively and encourage others to share their own experiences.
Criteria for successful applicants:
- Completed, currently studying, or willing to study towards a qualification in Peer Support Work.
- Willingness to attend the group facilitation training for SMART Recovery Australia
- Strong understanding of First Nation's culture and experience working with First Nation's peoples.
- National Police Clearance, no more than three months old – please note, applicants with a criminal record will NOT be automatically excluded from this role.
- Current WA Driver’s Licence
