About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity within our Waste Services team! We are currently seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled individual to join us. This is a Fixed-Term full time opportunity until 30 August 2025 with the possibility of extension.

The Waste Services workforce are responsible for managing the delivery of waste and resource recovery services to the community in line with the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act (WARR Act 2007). These services consist of kerbside domestic and commercial bin services, bulk verge collections, and litter bin servicing throughout the City, as well as District clean-up of illegal dumping and littering. The City has two Recycling Centre facilities based in Bullsbrook and Malaga, which receives and manages waste and recyclable materials for processing.

The General Hand position’s daily responsibilities vary depending on operational requirements within the Fleet and Waste Services Business Unit. These can include the collection of litter, operating rear and side loader vehicles, collecting bulk verge material, assisting in the Depot Store and assisting with the operation of the City’s Recycling Centres. The position may also complete special projects as directed by the Supervisor. The tasks undertaken contributes to deliver outstanding customer service safe and efficient services within the City and to improve the quality of life of all people who live in, work and visit the City of Swan.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

• HR Driver License
• Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card)
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.
• High level of communication skills to deal with internal and external customers and a willingness to make a difference to improve the quality of life for our community.
