As a Product Manager for Radio Services, you have the key role of managing and maturing the product management capability of Victoria Police's radio fleet of 13,000 radio devices. You will also have the crucial role of leading a team, setting and upholding delivery and championing our agile ways of working.

Radio Services Product
- Responsible for the management and continuous maturing of Victoria Policies radio fleet and to maintain the roadmap to leverage technical opportunities that are offered with the new upgraded radios.
- Develop robust testing framework to assess newer technologies and provide recommendations on device suitability and operational effectiveness and Monitor radio technology functionality for opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with product managers and key vendors to Develop a strategic technical capability and to prioritise application development aligned with product roadmaps.
- Provide technical advice, recommendations, and thought leadership on all technical aspects of radio devices and Monitor radio technology functionality, identify and recommend to senior key stakeholder opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
About the role:
The Product Manager role exists within Operational Technology and is part of the Frontline Technology Domain. The growth and complexity of radio services including the introduction of newer technologies within the current radio fleet has identified the need to build an enterprise radio services delivery model and technical capability within Victoria Police.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing the current fleet of radios and ensure the product is fit for purpose and meets the requirements for frontline operational needs.
- Assist with developing and maintaining product roadmaps for the current fleet of radios and ensure they meet organisational priorities in particular improved coverage access and capabilities.
- Actively manage a lifecycle product assessment and review and provide recommendations on new opportunities, capabilities, issues and risks with current and future evolution of products to smart featured devices & platforms.
- Provide technical governance on product oversight and standards, ensure radio devices have uniformity on Firmware versions, codeplugs and features across the fleet.
- Ensuring all assets are managed and optimised to perform across the MMR & RMR & VRN network, ensure codeplugs and channel plans are regular reviewed and quality assessed collectively with frontline operations teams.
- Provide advice, recommendations, and thought leadership on all technical aspects of radio product and network capability with particular focus on Cross border interoperability with interstate agencies.
- Manage and escalate issues relating to radio services with internal and external stakeholders through to resolution.
- Developing a capability framework for testing of portable and mobile radios and new technology enabled devices.
- Manage Service Providers in a multi-vendor environment to deliver the required services and support across the radio fleet.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in managing radio service issues and implementation of solutions.
- Sound understanding of Radio P25 radio network operations and standards.
- Experience in dealing with stakeholders and providing analytical advice on radio services with large corporate enterprises.
- Solid understanding of radio networking concepts, UHF, VHF, VF platforms.
- The ability to embrace change, be adaptable and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Self-motivated, highly visible and an engaging point of contact, who enjoys collaborating with people.
- Exceptional communication skills including technical documentation skills.
- Experience with ServiceNow highly regarded.
Requirements and relevant information:
- Australian Citizenship is a must. PR not sufficient.
- One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
- VPSG4 salary range $95,102 to 107,905 p.a. plus superannuation.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- This position may require out-of-hours work as indicated in the Position Description relating to after hours service management issues (as attached to the advertisement).
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
